Joseph Carastro IV, DMD, MS, PC
Dr. Joseph Carastro brings over 33 years of experience in dentistry and orthodontics to help you meet your family’s orthodontic needs. He has extensive education and experience in comprehensive orthodontics, orthognathic surgery and early treatment, with the goal of helping each patient determine his or her ideal treatment choice.
He believes in and has implemented the concept of the “patient-centered practice” with the philosophy that the patient is an active participant in the planning and execution of the treatment plan.
Dr. Carastro is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Dental Medicine and holds Masters’ Degrees from Tulane University and The University of Louisville. He was the first graduate of the U.S. Army Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics. He served in the U.S. Army as a General Dentist and later as Chief, Orthodontic Department, in Nurnberg, Germany and Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Prior to moving to the South Coast, Dr. Carastro was the Clinic Director, Graduate Orthodontics, University of California, San Francisco. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, World Federation of Orthodontists and Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr. Carastro’s basic philosophy is one of providing the patient with the information and education necessary so that he or she will be able to best determine his or her ideal orthodontic result.
