When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. The retention phase lasts for a minimum of 24 months. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve completed.
Retainers are to be worn the first year at all times and the following year as directed by Dr. Joe, typically during the night. Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth. Retainers can be cleaned with soap and water, do not used toothpaste it is too abrasive. We continue to see our patients for retainer check appointments for the 24 month retention stage.
